The New Zealand Police Pipe Band is a seven-time winner of the New Zealand grade one championships (most recently 2007).  The Band is based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, 20 minutes north of Wellington.

The Band is comprised of forty police and civilian members from around New Zealand, with guest players from overseas. It performs at formal Police and civic events and local community parades throughout the year. The Band aims to encourage goodwill between the public and Police, and to showcase top musical talent in piping and drumming.

New pipers and drummers are welcome...

The Band performs crowd pleasing displays incorporating some of the operational aspects of policing, including Police dogs, mock offenders, smoke bombs and road safety staff.

The New Zealand Police Pipe Band competes internationally in grade one, most recently in Scotland, Nth Ireland and North America.  The Band are previous winners of the Australian championships and performs in a range of international settings from theme park openings to highland gatherings.

The Band is an Incorporated Society operating under the patronage of the Commissioner of Police.  Originally formed in 1936, the Band continues the strong international tradition of Police connections with Scotland and Ireland.
